Newcastle casinos
Newcastle has had a pretty active casino history. Several casinos have come and gone or moved over the years, and we are left with a Grosvenor, a Genting and the original Aspers.
The Grosvenor used to be in a filthy back alley but now sits right at the end of one of the major bridges into the city. The Genting also has an amazing view over the river.
Aspers is located in the main leisure development in Newcastle, the Gate, and when it opened torpedoed the trading of our friend Duncan Bannatyne’s casino in Newcastle – modestly called Bannatyne’s. It closed a few months later. Aspers is going great however ; in the battle of the rich geezers, this one finished Aspinall 1 – Bannatyne 0.
