The Grosvenor in Bristol is a bit of a hybrid – it’s not big enough to be turned into a “G” casino, but a bit too nice to be lumbered with the manky old red signage, so Rank refurbed it in late 2011 and added some smart black signage. It’s only over the road from the Gala, although on the slightly more nautical Anchor Road rather than Millennium Square.
Inside the front doors you pop up a couple of steps to reception, then it’s into the main floor. It’s another amazingly red casino – table layouts, carpet, neon, walls (ok they’re burgundy) but a bit eye watering in any case.
The usual top notch Grosvenor slots offer is in place, as well as plenty of electronic roulette. The floor itself isn’t all that big, with a bit chopped off at the corner for the restaurant, which is in fact very good – try the spicy chicken risotto. Actually you probably won’t be able to, they’re about to change the menu, tough luck!
They’ve evidently given up on poker in the face of the Gala offer over the road, and the one sad looking cash table is on its way out. It must be tough up against a Gala on the scale of the one so close, but there’s plenty of money in Bristol – it’s a beautiful place – and this site has always made money in the past, so give it a look if you’re in town.
There’s always something about a situation where there are two casinos within a very short distance of each other – they tend to fight to get the customers – so you might snag some solid value promotional offers.
