The Cardiff G is located on a somewhat upmarket leisure park, what with its posh Imax cinema and so on. If you do try to get there by Satnav, be aware that the postcode’s not much use, you have to turn off well before the Satnav thinks you do – but then my Satnav is rather old and is generally not to be relied upon. Best to use the address in any case – essentially you turn off well before you get to the large building that looks like a cycling helmet for a giant (I think it’s the visitor centre).

It’s on the corner of the complex, and has the usual G trappings. Once you’re through the reception area you’re straight into the slots area on your left, with as usual bang up to date kit, although some of the slots suffer from a nasty reflection off the ceiling lights, and some of the others back directly onto the entrance area, not a particularly comfortable situation in which to sit.

The electronic roulette machines are arrayed around the gaming floor, although I had some issues as the first 6 I tried wouldn’t accept my £20 notes, a bit of a worry since I’d got them earlier in the day from the Grosvenor in Swansea. They took my fivers though, so don’t know what was happening there.
It’s quite compact for a G casino with a very small restaurant area and a token version of the signature illuminated bar ceiling. The leisure complex it’s in is quite odd too – although it has some upmarket units in it, it has the most extraordinary (ie minging) faux-harbourside décor, and a few empty units, although the location seems pleasant enough and has its own small train station for access as well as tons of car parking.

The G Experience is designed to be the same wherever you go, so if you’re a regular casino explorer the feel of the place won’t be unfamiliar at all. Certainly you can expect live music on a weekend along with a busy atmosphere – when I visited it was early on a weekday, so a bit on the deserted side to be honest.

One last thing – the whole place smells nice! I don’t generally select my casino of choice by flavour, but this one really does smell fresh and clean, even the toilets, quite an unusual feature in my experience.
